District 26AA concluded their 2022 Cross Country meet Thursday, October 13th at Snook City Park, Snook.
District 26AA consists of Burton, Iola, Mumford, Normangee, Snook, and Somerville racing for a regional spot. On the Varsity Girls' side, the team of Drew Stewart, Riley Garza, Amaya Wingfield, Memphis Fouse, and Nolan Harris from Normangee captured the District Championship while Lindsey Gooch of Iola finished first overall. Running for the Varsity Boys: Junior Herrera, Jacob Pemberton, Parker Hopkins, Chris Castilleja, Juan Cruz, Dylan Pemberton, and Joseph Florez brought home the District Championship to Mumford. Ethan Janac, of Snook, was the first across the finish line to take Individual Champion honors. Every school from the district advanced at least one runner individually.
In the sub-varsity races, Lilian Freeman of Mumford finished first overall, as did Deigo Carrillo of Mumford. The boys from Mumford also finished first as a team in the sub-varsity race.
In the Junior High meet from Wednesday, Brooke Hopkins of Mumford placed first overall in the girls race. In the boys race, Barrett Dudensing of Snook took the gold. The Junior High Girls from Mumford and the Junior High Boys from Burton won the team competitions.
The schools will meet again Monday, October 24th at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi campus for the Regional Meet. 2A Girls race at 1140am and 2A Boys race at 1210pm.
