District 26AA concluded their 2021 Cross Country meet Thursday, October 14th at Davidson Creek Park, Caldwell.
The schools of Burton, Iola, Mumford, Normangee, Snook, and Somerville braved the wet conditions this morning to race for a coveted regional spot. When the water had settled, Mumford sent their girls and boys Varsity teams to regionals as distinct champions. Burton sent a boys and girls team as district runner-up. Lindsey Gooch of Iola and Edgar Fernandez of Mumford pulled away from the pack to emerge as the individual district champions. Every school from the district advanced at least one runner individually. JV races were also held in the morning and junior high races were held the previous evening. Mumford and Burton spilt the JV titles and Burton claimed championships at the junior high level.
The schools will meet again October 25th at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi campus for the Regional Meet.
