Powerlifting Team

The Burton Panthers traveled to Elgin on Saturday, January 27,  to take part in the largest powerlifting meet in the state this season.  With nearly 400 lifters in attendance, the small squad from Burton acquitted themselves well, scoring a 1st and 3rd place finish from their six-man team.

Starting the scoring off for the Panthers was first-year lifter, Jackson Morey (Jr.), whose combined 685 lb total placed him 3rd in the 123 lb weight class and brought him to 10th place in the 2A Region 4 standings.

Not to be outdone, Mark Odom (Jr.), threw his weight around in the 132 lb weight class, finishing 1st with a combined 950 lbs.  This personal best lift places Odom at the top of 2A Region 4 standings.

The Lady Panther Powerlifting team lifts this Wednesday, January 31st at Brazos High School.  Both squads will be together again for their last invitational of the season at Rice Consolidated High School on Saturday, February 17th.
